Getting problem when tried to convert .cdb file to .tcf file

Excuse me,

I have installed ccs 5.1 and then 5.2 and I also try to convert a cdb file from spectrum digital 6418 example files, and the problem is the same: the c64xx file don't exist.

What should I do, whee I can find it?

Should I install ccs 3.3 also on my pc?

As you se I have ccs installed on d: (this is the sugestion in the installmanual) and all is coherent.

Neither in ccs 5.1 (installed from TI DVD) nor in ccs 5.2 (installed from Internet after 5.1 full uninstall) c64xx.cdb is where it should be.

Below is the step to convert cdb file to tcf file.

1. Open cmd. start->run->type "cmd"

2. go to ........\ti\bios_5_41_13_42\packages\ti\bios\config\update folder
     c:> cd ........\ti\bios_5_41_13_42\packages\ti\bios\config\update

3. Copy your cdb file to "c:\........\ti\bios_5_41_13_42\packages\ti\bios\config\update" folder

4. run cdb2tcf using cmd
    c:\........\ti\bios_5_41_13_42\packages\ti\bios\config\update> cdb2tcf your_cdb_file.cdb

5. It will create 5 files

1. your_cdb_file.tcf (This is your converted tcf file)
2. sr3420_srpmcfg_csl.h
3. sr3420_srpmcfg_csl.c
4. sr3420_srpm.cdb.Currect_Date (This is your original cdb file. The name of your original cdb file converted to original name followed by currect date)
5. tcfopts.dat

6. Delete all 4 files(2 to 5). Only take your_cdb_file.tcf file. This is your converted tcf file

Hi Sasha,

yes, that thread born before this one for a more basic issue, but at the end it found also this same problem, that I had seen before when trying unsuccessfully to convert via GUI, and other problems arised (for me).

Rafael sent me the missing file but the mistery remains: 2 installations, V5.1 from DVD, and V5.2 from Internet, (after full V5.1 uninstall) missed this file.

I'll try another V5.2 install via Internet and  I will post the result. Could be of help to understand the nature of the problem, pheraps?.

I just reinstalled ccs V5.2 on C: and th c64xx.cdb file appered again in the right directory.

Pheraps installing on d: generated the problem (twice),

Now conversion has gone via command line.

I made this procedure the way you suggested working on the update directory and also working directly on the pro get folder by ccs. The only difference with respect your description is that no _csl.h and _csl.c files was produced, but only the new tcf, the renamed cab, and tcfopts.dat, but this should not be a problem (or not?).

After substituting the generated tcf file to the cdb file in the project folder ccs5 was able to import it correctly.

The main problem that made the conversion fail was the c64xx.cdb file missing under bios 5 directory that now is finally present after reinstalling ccs on C:.

yes I would definitely like to be able to replicate the problem. It's not the fist time I heard of it, but even when installing on volumes other than C:, I couldn't replicate it. I tried on E:, but maybe there is something about D: that causes the error. I'll try again, but can you tell me which installer did you use for V5.2? There are two on this page:

there are two Windows installers. Which one did you use?

Sorry, for my misunderstanding.

I used the web install of 5.2

Before installing 5.2 I installed 5.1 via TI DVD, and also in this case the file was missing.

It was not possible to verify the DVD cause it is a self extracting exe.
