Ubuntu built for AM1808

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM1808

I am looking for Ubuntu 10.04 LTS built for an AM1808.

I know that Ubuntu runs on the ARMv7 instruction set but the AM1808 uses the ARMv5TEJ instruction set.

I saw this post related to the Hawkboard using Jaunty (Ubuntu 9.04).

Can someone point me to where I can find Ubuntu 10.04 LTS for the AM1808?

  • Hi,

Did you ever get Ubuntu to run on the 1808?

    Thanks,

    FM

  • Nope. We are using Fedora Core 15 arm5 distribution.

It is my understanding that Ubuntu 10.04 and newer only supports armv7 instruction set and higher.

The AM1808 is an ARM9 core which uses an armv5 instruction set (and so Ubuntu distributions won't run on the AM1808. You could in theory build from source, but that kinda defeats the purpose of having support).

See the links below if you are interested in using Fedora Core for the AM1808:
