how to allocate an array base address to desired address

Hi, I am dealing with omap L138 dsp core, which is c6748 model. I am trying to allocate an array as circular buffer purpose, but due to the nature of the circular buffer setting I need to get a specific address to start with. The buffer will be 0x800 in size, and I am thinking to set the base address to 0x11827000. So what should I do achieve that? Thank you.

  • Kee Yong Ting,

You do not need to place the buffer at a particular address, but you do need to align it to a particular alignment equal to the size of the buffer. For this you would use the DATA_ALIGN pragma which is described in the C Compiler User's Guide.

Placing a memory object or buffer at a specific address is a more advanced topic and I recommend you do not do it this way. Methods are described in the Assembly Language Tools Reference Guide, see sections on "allocation" and "blocking".
