I am struggling configuring a firewall.

We are running with No RTOS

I am basing my code on that found in SDK 9

Sciclient_firewallSetRegion(...) and Bootloader_socOpenFirewallRegion(...)

We have board config set as

Wen dumping the trace buffer, I see no exception for what causes this NAK.

1) Do you have an example on how to configure a firewall to prevent access by either DMSS or A53 from specific regions in MSRAM

2) MSRAM_K0 and K1 seem to be tied with boot code. is that still so when A53 is running.

Hello,

If you are using the TISCI APIs to configure the firewalls in the application then the TISCI request would be rejected as the TISCI APIs for FWLs can only be used till the SBL Stage because of the Security Handover requested by SBL before self-resetting to the application.

For firewall configuration from the application, please use the Firewall Module available in the Sysconfig.

Still not able to configure a firewall. As an alternative, I tried to compile the SDK example in mcu_plus_sdk_am64x_09_01_00_41\examples\drivers\sciclient\sciclient_ccs_init\am64x-evm and run it in the evaluation board TMDS64EVM and debugged using Lauterbach T32 debugger. I placed breakpoints on failure code in Bootloader_socOpenFirewalls at line 1204, 1217 and 1227 (In all failure paths).

On running the example code, the code breaks at line 1204 having failed to change the first firewall owner

I dumped the memory logs from 044043000 and include the parsed output.

As you recommend, I complied the same example from mcu_plus_sdk_am64x_09_02_01_05 (examples\drivers\sciclient\sciclient_ccs_init\am64x-evm) and get the same result. In Bootloader_socOpenFirewalls when changing the first firewall owner Bootloader_socOpenFirewallRegion returns a status 0f -1 (Failure) which is what is returned by Sciclient_firewallSetRegion

Digging further, sciclient_service returns with a response flags or 0x02 which would be TISCI_MSG_FLAG_SEC being set. Contexts is set to non secure in function Sciclient_getCurrentContext as the message type is TISIC_MSG_CHANGE_FWL_OWNER

Again this is the unchanged example in mcu_plus_sdk_am64x_09_02_01_05 downloaded for TI web site.

Apologies. Actually, I reported the issue on v9.2 and it was fixed in v10.1. Anyways, you can take the bootloader driver patch and it should get fixed in the SDK version you are using.

Still struggling with this issue. I compiled the example in SDK 12.1 sciclient_ccs_inin/am64x_evm and have it working on the TMDS64EVM board. However when I import the code from Bootloader_socOpenFirewalls() and Bootloader_socNotifyFirewallOpen() into our SBL, the TISCI messages respond with a NAK. I fail to see why DMSC will not allow configuration of any firewall. I understand that MSRAM_K0 and MSRAM_K1 may be priviledged when running SBL, but I get the same result if I only try MSRAM_K3. I have also imported the board configurations from SDK 12.1 with the same result. What would be th cause for this issue.

Note that I am only running on the TMDS64EVM board for either version of the code.

Could you please share the exact code you have in SBL for firewall configuration which is not running successfully?

Unfortunately, company policy prevents me from sharing code.

I am assuming not but Is firewall ownership by DMSCdependent on any of the following:

Setting board config (security or RM)
DPL_Init (setting timer 8 and interrupt enabling)
PowerClock_Init (Enabling clocks EMIF/DDR)
Pinmux_Init (Main/MCU domains)
DDR_Init
Empty board_init

Other than setting board config that is pretty much all that is before Bootloader_socOpenFirewalls

The TISCI FWL APIs are not dependent on anything including board configurations. The default SBLs include the call to Bootloader_socOpenFirewalls which is executed successfully. How is SBL different in calling this Bootloader_socOpenFirewalls function?
