AM625SIP: U Boot through UART is unsuccessful

Part Number: AM625SIP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SYSCONFIG

Hi,

I have followed the document "Linux Board Porting on AM62x Devices" for creating a minimal u boot image. I have finished the make build commands and got the necessary files i.ie tiboot3.bin, tispl.bin (Unsigned) and u-boot.img (unsigned). In UART boot mode I set up the EVM for AM625SIP, I gave the tiboot3.bin after which I gave tispl.bin. That file also loaded properly. But as per the screenshot I am unable to move forward.

Earlier in the previous build, the DDR4 memory was allocated to 2GB which I changed to 512 MB as SIP has the integrated DDR. after that i built the new image files. Since then the issue is happening. Also I have used the ddr4 dtsi file as  k3-am6254atl-sip-ddr-lp4-50-800.dtsi (I was not able to generate the DDR4 config for AM625SIP in sysconfig as it was showing error).

Please look into this. I am sharing a few files. Let me know if any additional files are required.

  • Hi Joel,

    Do you mean you can load all the U-Boot binaries via UART and boot into U-Boot comandline prompt before update the DDR size?

    k3-am62x-neon.dts:

            memory@80000000 {
                    bootph-pre-ram;
                    device_type = "memory";
                    /* 512MB RAM FOR AM625SIP */
                    reg = <0x00000000 0x80000000 0x00000000 0x20000000>;
            };

  • Hi  ,

    You are right. I was able to load all the binaries, but after loading u-boot.img, it was showing panic in EL3 and it stopped. And the before line had mentioned DRAM size as 2GB which AM625SIP won't be having as it has an integrated 512MB RAM. That's why I changed this line.
