VPIF - Using two input video channels

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320C6748, OMAP-L138

Hi,

I'm designing a PCB for the TMS320C6748 DSP based on OMAP-L138/C6748 EVM Kit. In this project we want to connect two CMOS cameras in RAW capture mode. Reading the datasheet I saw that the VPIF has two channels I wonder how to connect two cameras one in each channel? Its possible?

  • The datasheet seems to indicate this is not possible. For Raw capture you need to use both Input Channels(0 and 1) to capture from a single source. For 2 input channels it looks like your only option is to  convert your data to BT.656.

If you can't convert your data to BT.656 format maybe the PRUSS peripheral can be hacked to give a second RAW video port.
