PRUSS eCAP clock source

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3359

Hi,

The internal eCAP is working in the AM3359 PRUSS but it's going twice as fast as I think it should.  Shouldn't its input clock be 200 MHz (CORE_CLKOUTM4).

Is it actually running from some other clock?  I can't tell exactly how internal it is.

  • Hi Chris,

The internal eCAP's clock is 200MHz.  It is sourced from the 200MHz OCP clock in the PRU subsystem (PD_PER_PRUSS_OCP_GCLK).

    Regards,

    Melissa

  • Please clarify this PRU eCAP clock source in the AM335x Technical Reference Manual, section 4.4.5 ECAP. Currently all it says is:

The PRU ECAP module within the PRU-ICSS is identical to the ECAP module in the AM335x PWMSS. For additional details about the ECAP module, see Section 15.3, Pulse-Width Modulation Subsystem (PWMSS).

It would be good to add a sentence e.g.:

The PRU ECAP clock source is the PRU subsystem 200 MHz clock.
