We are developing a custom interface to the TI 8168 using a CMOS camera. Using the EVM, we found that when the TIM4_OUT pin is not driven with a sync like signal (SYNC_DET on daughtercard), the unit will not capture frames. Because the M3 processor code is not provided by TI, we can't see if that core is somehow using this pin. I haven't seen any documentation that TIM4_OUT is necessary for video capture in any of TI's documentation.
So...my questions are:
1. What is this pin being used for?
2. Is there a way to load code on a platform other than the eval board and get this to work without driving TIM4?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. By the way, this pin also looks like it is being driven low by the Integra. We have driven it with a FPGA driving 12mA of current and only can drive it to 1.5V.
