Is the latest version of the dependency component compatible with which specified in the release note?

Hi,

For the reason that I am a freshman to use TI's library. I am a little confuse about the

compatibility of the component which has dependency with the video codec. I have noticed

that the version of the dependency component which make the codec work has been

specified in the release note clearly. But the version always be update to newer version.

I want to know that do I have to get the specific version to make the codecs and the demo program

work? If so, how I can do to make it work on the latest version? or I have to start my development

on the older version of the component with this codec?

Thanks a lot!

  • Hi Sunzhao,

Can you please mention the TI platform and which codec version you are looking at?

    Thanks,
    With Regards,
    Pramod

  • Hi Pramod,

I am trying to build and run H264 BP Encoder, Version 01.24.00.01 on my C6678 evm. From the release note, I learned that

the component version for this codec is FC 3.20.02.29, DSP/BIOS 6.31.00.18, IPC 1.22.04.25. While, the component

in my PC is FC 3.22.00.05, DSP/BIOS 6.32.05.54, IPC 1.24.00.16.  I try to build the test program with my library because

they seems newer than the version which specified in the release note. But i got compile error. I am very confuse about

this because I don't know if I have to download the right version of that component which specified in the release note for

using each library? If so, it may be a little boring......

    Thanks a lot!

  • Hi Sunzhao,

H.264BP encoder (version 01.24.00.01) was validated with the components specified in the release notes. To compile the test application without any code changes, we will need to use the version specified in the release notes. Migration effort may be needed when using a newer version of the components, e.g., from BIOS 6.31.00.18 to 6.32.05.54 (details of BIOS migration can be found from BIOS docs). Please let us know if you would like to do the migration and encounter any issues.

The same set of components are used for C6678 video codecs at http://software-dl.ti.com/dsps/dsps_public_sw/codecs/C6678_Video_Codecs/01_00_001/index_FDS.html. After you download once, they can be used for all.

    Thanks,

    Hongmei
