AM335x - TPS65910A & SPI0 Use

Hello,

I am considering using the TPS65910A. It seems that SPI0 has to be used and I am assuming the setup includes using those two pins as their alternate function, I2C. (Refer to TPS65910Ax User's Guide For AM335x Processors; SWCU093A p. 2) However, doing this forces using the SPI0 port making the entire SPI0 serial bus useless. Is there an alternate way to connect the AM335X to the TPS65910A? I may look at the xsx217A to see how it affects my pin usage.

The two ports on the TPS65910A are I2C ports. That user's guide shows an example that uses SPI to connect to one of the TPS65910A ports, but in reality you could use one of the other I2C ports available on AM335x.

Hi.

So SCL_SCK and SDA-SDI are the pins ued in the general purpose I2C port and SDASR_EN2 and SCLSR_EN1 are used for the SmartReflex I2C port. Do I have to connect the SmartReflex I2C port if I do not intent to use it? Does that SmartReflex connection between processor and PMIC exist for the circuit to work? Is there any "behind-the-scenes" communication going on that would render the circuit useless if that I2C connection is not made on the SmartReflex port?

That's right...if you're not using SmartReflex you wouldn't need to connect to the SmartReflex I2C port.
