BIOSUSB license fee and source code availability?

Hi Champ,

I'm planning to use BIOSUSB package, based on JUNGO USB stack, on C6745.

So, I'd like to know about the license.  Is the fee totally free?  Is there any application procedure to use this package?
And, Can I get the source codes of device stack component libraries?

Thank you very much in advance.

Best regards,
j-breeze

  • Hello,

You can download the BIOSUSB package from TI website. But, we don't provide JUNGO source code.

Please contact JUNGO for getting source code.

Please check following link for Starterware. This is developed by TI and comes with the source code.

  • Hi Prasad-san,

Thank you for your suggestion about Starterware. I'll  study it.

And, How about the BIOSUSB license?  I need to make any contract with JUNGO about BIOSUSB license?
I'd like to confirm it.  So, could you please let me know, If you have any?

Thanks in advance for your cooperation.

  • j-breeze,

I just thought I'd offer you an alternative, the company I work for has created a working CDC-ACM device driver for the C674x parts, which should include the C6745 you are using. The CDC-ACM device can be used like a serial port and can be accessed using a standard CDC-ACM / virtual serial port / virtual COM port driver to transfer data to and from the DSP. This means that there is no need for custom device drivers on normal operating systems (Windows/Linux/MacOS/e.t.c.). Alternatively, we have also used LibUsb to implement a driver that is more resilient than the standard Windows device driver and has support for passing messages over the USB in a packetised manner.

If you really need to get the USB working quickly, then we will be able to help you. If you want further information please look at :

    http://focus.ti.com/dsp/docs/thirdparty/catalog/companyfolder.tsp?actionPerformed=companyFolder&companyId=1898

    and our direct web-site link:

    http://www.macltd.com/products_usbdriver.php

We gave it to one customer and they had the test application working the next day, and very rapidly integrated it into their own product. The documentation is very good, and hopefully any queries you would have will be answered very rapidly. We have a demo version as well. Please email me if you are interested.

I also see that you are interested in possibly developing a custom class type, if the CDC-ACM driver will not suit your application. The driver is modula in design and so should support extension to a custom class. Currently it can support up to 3 CDC-ACM type interfaces or 3 bidirectional serial ports which can be designated as you would see fit for your product. Again any questions about this aspect please feel free to email me as below or message me in the TI forum.

    Yours,

    Peter

  • Peter-san,

Thank you for your interesting offer.
However, I'm planning to use free softwares that  are released from TI due to cost reduction, I'm sorry.

Thanks in advance for your understanding.
