Getting started with Ezsdk

Respected Sir/Madam,

i have just started learning ezsdk and soon will start working on it but i have some questions:

1. Is it necessary to have SD card for working with ezsdk or can we also just use jtag for flashing NAND and start working, if yes how can we do that?

2. How can we integrate ccs with ezsdk so that the buitin libraries that come with ezsdk can be used in ccs?

3. As far as i come to know that first step for working with ezsdk is to load linux kernel to target processor.Why is it necessary to load linux kernel to the target processor for start development using ezsdk?

I am using DM8148(Centaurus board) and right now i don't have SD card or MMC. can u plz throw some light over these question? I am much confuse at this moment.

1. You can flash NAND over JTAG but it's a hard place to start. I strongly recommend buying an SD card and SD card reader to start off to see what the EZSDK can perform. Your EVM that you bought should come with a ready setup SD card that you can put in the EVM and get started straight away.

2. What are you really trying to do? Most of your ARM development should be done on Linux (in my opinion) which is where the EZSDK is installed. CCS is only used for low level debugging of ARM and DSP. In my experience, building things in CCS is very difficult if they are to run on the ARM.

3. The first step for the EZSDK is to watch your EVM boot up with the supplied SD card. As for bringing your own board design up, software-wise the first step is to have U-Boot running and then Linux.

As the TI chap said, you should read all the documents in <EZSDK>/docs several times and then look at <EZSDK>/board-support/docs.
