NAS+ Media Server Application/DM814x Power Consumtption

Hi Team

one of my design house customers is looking at designing a NAS + Media Sever Application and looking at use of DM8148 in the same. One of the key requirement of the application is less than 500mW power consumption in standby mode with Ethernet on.

Our power estimation spreadsheet provides it to be 755mA. Can you explain why is this so high as compared to other processors? Is 500mW a possibility in Standby mode?

The customer might have to use DM816x as he needs 1 HD + other transcoding happening in the background.

What can be the best case power consumption in sleep mode with DM816x

Hello,

The lowest power mode of the DM816x device is Standby Mode, and depending on the case temperature, the power would be around 2W.

What about DM814x? In standby mode, how much would it consume? What is the least power nos we can achieve using DM814x and DM816x?

Anuj,

For the DM814x please use the power spreadsheet referred to earlier in this thread. It has a button for Standby Mode.
