question about C6670L

hello

i just bought a EVMc6670L and i want to transmit the data from one kit to another by UART interface

so, could you advice me the right steps to work in order to save time and transmit data in As soon as possible.

So, tell me what i should read (UART Interface or there are already examples on CD)??

thank you in advance

  • Hi Ahmed,

Please, make sure you have the latest version of CCS5 installed. Then install the latest version of TI MCSDK, which is available below:

    http://software-dl.ti.com/sdoemb/sdoemb_public_sw/bios_mcsdk/latest/index_FDS.html

Please, try running C6670 EVM platform test, which can be found at:

    <CCS_INSTALL>\pdk_C6670_1_0_0_XX\packages\ti\platform\evmc6670l\platform_test

This platform test project, includes code which tests the UART connection on the C6670 EVM. For more details on how to run the test, please refer to the README file included in the project folder.

The USB port (FTDI) on the C6670 EVM can be used as a serial port connection to the PC. More details can be found in C6670 technical reference manual:

  • thank you for your reply

so whose is simple to use : serial port or USP port

and in case of using another port

there are Eathernet port and Hyperlink port , i know that the hyperlink is more faster than Eathernet , but i don't know whose is simple to use ,

    please help me

  • The USB port connection, which I was mentioning was serial (UART) over USB. Please, provide more details about your application use case scenario for better support from my side.

  • thank you for helping me

i am in last year of telecommunication department and i have a graduation project

we have 2 kits of EVMc6670L one as a tx and other as rx and each kit will upload the physical layer of LTE on it .

so i need to transmit from Tx to Rx

but i as i knew the serial port is the simplest one to deal  (what do you think better to deal : UART or USB )???

and we have to use another port in order to transmit data  from Tx to Rx *(for certain application called cognitive radio ) but i don't think whose better to deal (Hyperlink or Eathernet ) , imean whose is simple to deal ???? and how can i use it ??

thank you for trying to help me

  • Ahmed,

Karthik told you to install the MCSDK and to look at the examples and documents for which he most kindly offered paths. Your latest replies do not imply that you have followed through with his suggestions and advice.

We can tell you how things work, which is documented in the various User Guides and MCSDK documentation/examples. We cannot tell you which is easiest. Karthik suggests USB or UART over USB; I would say UART. The guy who designed the HyperLink would say HyperLink. A user who has been working with Ethernet stacks on our DSPs for a while would say Ethernet. We offer as much support as possible through the MCSDK to make them all easy for you to use.

Do you  know what your comm-channel requirements are?

Do you know how to determine the capabilities of the four comm-channels we have been discussing?

If you have questions about the examples or documents that Karthik and I have referenced, please ask those questions so we can better help you. I told you privately that my answer would be MCSDK, and that is what Karthik (the real expert) said, too.

We look forward to your further questions after you try the examples and read the documentation.

    Regards,
    RandyP
