i'm want 16Gb ro 32 Gb flash.

I'm not working on AM335x at present. But ONFI is supported in AM335x for sure.

Hi Danny,
I understand this is old thread.
However I would like to know that you could use the NAND; MT29F32G08CBABA, or not?
My customer also has the case of not booting from NAND; MT29F32G08CBACAWP by AM335x.
If you could, please share your experience to use it.

The most likely reason is that they are using the wrong ECC correction. Please post the NAND page size/spare area size, what software is being used, and what is the ECC correction scheme.

Here is information you required.

-NAND Device: Micron MT29F32G08CBACAWP
-page size: 4096
-spare area size：224-bytes of OOB/spare region
-OMAP_ECC_BCH16_CODE_HW ECC scheme
-Processor SDK Linux 01.00.00.03

Could you please point out the reason to faile booting from NAND?

BCH16 is correct for this page/spare area size. Have they set SYSBOOT[9] = 0 ?

I supporse that BCH16 can support this page; 4096 and the spare area size; 224-bytes.
I refer to the following Wiki site.

If my understanding is wrong, please let me know.
As for SYSBOOT[9] setting; I will confirm it with my customer.

Yes, ROM code requires BCH16 for this page/spare area size.

Let me make sure that the rom code requires BCH16
for the page/spare area size such as 4096/224.
Is this meant that Micron MT29F32G08CBACAWP can be used for AM335x
because the page size is "x8: 4320 bytes (4096 + 224 bytes)" ?
Also, do you know the actual results of Micron MT29F32G08CBACAWP with AM335x?

Regarding SYSBOOT[9]; my customer sets "0".
I supporse "Micron MT29F32G08CBACAWP" has satisfied the requirements of AM335x as you replied.
Please let me know the other check points to this issue.

I don't have the version, but ROM code procedure is described in detail in section 26.1.8.4.2 of the AM335x TRM Rev. P.

I understand that AM335x ROM Bootloader (RBL) supports booting from a NAND device which supports any one of versions in ONFI specifications.

To determine NAND device to boot, should the conditions other than the ONFI support be checked?

If the NAND device has ONFI support, that is enough. If it does not have ONFI support, it should be one of the device types listed in Table 26-14 of the TRM. If one of these conditions is not met, you should use reading NAND geometry from I2C EEPROM (TRM page 5046).
