enabling modem interface on the blaze

Hi,

I am successfully managed to use L27.IS.2.P2 on the blaze and ICS works fine.

I am now in the stage of connecting a USB LTE modem, at the first stage the usb modem is attached to a dedicated evaluation board which connects to the blaze board through the external micro usb (OTG) connector, the LTE modem has a device rule with respect to usb so I use a micro A connector on the blaze. that scenario works fine and I was able to connect to the LTE system.

I am now trying to connect the LTE modem directly into the mini-pci slot inside the blaze board. this unfortunately does not work. I do not get enumeration at the USB level.

at kernel startup I see "modem not detected".

is there any hardware setup I need to perform on the blaze? S2, S3 switch? is there any special kernel configuration? what USB should I configure to use it?

Thanks,

  • Eilon,

The PCI modem connector uses ULPI / EHCI.  There are changes you would need to make to the Blaze hardware, namely removing and installing several resistors, in order to enable the clock, power, and data to the ULPI PHY.  If you contact your TI representative, there is some documentation available on the specific changes needed.

    Regards,
