dsp selection for LTE equipment

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320C6670

Hi,

from the document, the TCI6618 and C6670 have the similiar function, including the coprocessors for LTE, e.g. FFT, Turbo/Viterbi decoder, CRC... etc.

These 2 chips are totally the same just name is different?

If I select the DSP type for LTE technology, 6670 is OK?

thanks

david

  • Hi david,

The two chips actually differ not too much.

But TCIxxxx is not public released and you should contact your local TI sales to apply for. So for a general-purpose application such as LTE, C6670 is better choice.

  • David,

The major difference is the support model.  TCI66x devices are not supported via the E2E forum, and instead are supported through local Field Applications Engineers, while the C66x devices are supported through the E2E Forum.

I would suggest talking to your local field applications engineer, if you don't know who that is, then please contact your local field sales representative to discuss this further.

    Best Regards,

    Chad

  • David,

Yes, it is okay to choose the TMS320C6670 for your LTE application. It is a powerful multi-core processor with several powerful communications-related co-processors included.

  • David,

there's also a white paper discussing the C6670/TCI6618 usage in multistandard wireless base stations. Please see here.

    Kind regards,

  • RandyP,

Is there any library that we can use in our C6670 system can  accelerate our LTE development?

  • Please start a new thread, since this one has been closed for 4 years. The links referenced here may be helpful to you.

Please also search the forum for other references to LTE and the C6670. You may need to go through a Third Party design house to get support for your LTE development.

Any libraries would be listed on the TMS320C6670 Product Folder website. All available documentation will be listed there.

    Regards,
    RandyP
