hi all
my company just got the tmdsevm6670le board and i having trouble using it.

first, i cant even complete the quick start guide. having problem on step 4 where you are suppose to connect with hyper terminal. my hyper terminal is only showing something like "booting from NOR" constantly.

so okay, i email tech support to advantech where we got the board from and they are taking ages to respond, so i tried to follow the BIOS MCSDK 2.0 getting started guide.

everything is fine until i get to step 9 of the "Use JTAG to Load the Application," where it says to connect target andd i got an error as below...
Error connecting to the target: Cannot access register at 0x00000000 (Error -2131) @ 0 (0x0)

so, did i do something wrong? or something is with the board?

hi obed,

You should check the configuration of BOOTMODE, which is decided by the DIP switch SW3 on EVM.

The proper setting should be SW3[2:4] = "000" (which is ON ON ON), that's the Emulation Mode. More details can be found on TMDXEVM6678L_Technical_Reference_Manual.

After setting correctly, power cycle the EVM and try again your connection.

allen, yes i already set the DIP switches as such, still no luck.

Hi, Obed,

I tried to understand which steps you have passed, and which step you started to fail by following the guide in following link,

But it doesn't match what you said - the STEP9 (Use JTAG to Load the Application). Can you send the instruction of steps you followed so that I can understand what you have done successfully and what you haven't?

@allen: i'm using xds100
i tried to use the dbgjtag to see what does error 2131 means, but it doesnt give anything... so i'm stumped

@wenzhong: the link you gave is the guide that i am following

under the section "Use JTAG to load the application,"

9. Right click on core0 and select Connect Target to connect to the target CPU. This step will require the board is powered up and the PC is connected to the board using USB.

this is where i fail. all the steps previously are Okay.

Hi obed,

okay, you mentioned you are using tmdsevm6670le, the suffix 'e' means there will be a on-board XDS560 emulator on your EVM, so if you keep it connecting to EVM, the XDS100 will be disable automatically. Check and confirm whether you are using tmdsevm6670LE?

got it to connect now!

yes my board does have the xds560v2 attached to the 60port JTAG. initially i also thought to use that one instead of the xds100, but when i plug xds560 in (and after driver installation) xds560 doesnt show on the 'eject usb' thingy like the xds100. so i thought it's not installed properly or something and since the instruction was to use the xds100 i keep using the xds100.

o well, problem is solved now. will continue to learn this board.
