MCSDK Video Demo

Hi,

I want to run video MCSDK video demo on TDM6678l, I have tried to build the demo but there are warnings "No prep script found",

I checked for the same and got that its in cygwinxdc.bat file and there some path with are missing in it for active perl which are not available in my Active perl     setup. I have tried compiling it still and i got sv01.out file. i am trying to run it but its showing only loop back videos ie first row four videos only (checked for Firewall and antivirus also).

I go through readme.txt which form after make, which shows CPUTYPE as c6416 but i want it as shannon or c6678. So can you suggest anything for these problems or any sample code which will take video and transcode it and give it back to PC.

Thanks

Tushar

  • Hi Tushar,

For the real-time video demo, have you tried the pre-built image (sv01) included in MCSDK Video 2.0? Does that work with the instructions from the wiki page http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/MCSDK_VIDEO_2.0_Demo_Guide? For your demo PC, does it have Giga-bit Ethernet card? Are you connecting your PC and the EVM with Giga-bit switch? Is ...\demos\demoroot\customBuild\tftp\sv0.out successfully loaded via TFTP?

To investigate the issue without video streaming from DSP, can you please provide us the complete log when running the following commands:

    1) run "genDemo.bat config.txt"

    2) run "sendPkts.bat"

    3) run "startMplayers.bat"

    4) run "ipconfig /all"

CPUTYPE as c6416 in readme.txt is fine, and it is from our baseline code.

If you would like to try video transcode without real-time requirements, MCSDK Video 2.0 provides a single-channel single-core H.264-H.264 transcode example in CCS project @ ...\mcsdk_video_2_0_0_10\examples\transcode. The data IO for this transcode example is via TFTP. To build this example, please have the patch as described in http://e2e.ti.com/support/dsp/c6000_multi-core_dsps/f/639/t/188748.aspx (3108.components.zip). A test clip can be found from http://e2e.ti.com/support/dsp/c6000_multi-core_dsps/f/639/p/177287/640766.aspx#640766 (airshow_p1280x720_4Mbps.zip).

    Thanks,

    Hongmei

  • Hi Tushar, a quick question which OS has your PC? Windows 7 or XP? .. Also, which Mplayer build are you using?

    thanks,

    Paula

  • Hi Paula,

I am Using XP and I dont know Mplayer version, I have download it from ti wiki link it is having name link this MPUI.2011-06-09.Light-Package.

    Thanks Tushar

  • Hi Tushar,

I faced a similar issue, but cannot recall exactly how I fix it.. Two things that you can try are

    1) Reinstall Mplayer and select "Runtime CPU detection"

    2) Unistall 2011 and try 2008 (MPUI.2008-02-10.Full-Package.exe). If the second one is used please check as well "Runtime CPU detection"

Also as Hongmei mentioned, please check that you are using a Gigabit switch or try to connect directly the board to you PC

    Thank you,

    Paula

  • HI,

I try with MPUI.2008-02-10.Full-Package.exe but its still giving me only 4 videos which may be loop back video and i am using Ethernet switch. Can you suggest any other solution for this problem....

    Thanking you

  • Hi Tushar,

The logs you sent earlier look fine. Can you please do some basic checks? Can you please also provide the log for "ipconfig /all"?

    1) Are you using pre-built sv01.out (the file is located at demos\demoroot\Reference\sample_build)?

    2) What's the size of demos\demoroot\customBuild\tftp\sv01.out? With pre-built sample build, size of this generated custom build should be 21,827,161 bytes.

    3) Is the custom build (demos\demoroot\customBuild\tftp\sv01.out) correctly loaded through TFTP?

    4) Does your demo PC have Giga-bit Ethernet Card? The demo needs Giga-bit card.

    5) Please try direct connect between the EVM and your PC.

    6) If a laptop is used for the demo, please do not put it on a docking station.

After the above checks, we can do the following:

Use Wireshark to capture the packet flow between demo PC and DSP. IP of demo PC is 192.168.0.102. For Demo 1, core 0-5 are used and their IPs are 192.168.0.120-192.168.0.125, and their MACs are 0x0A,0x00,0x28,0x04,0xD5,0x4C to 0x0A,0x00,0x28,0x04,0xD5,0x51 (specified in demos\demoroot\Reference\config\demo1\demoCfg.pl). First check if demo PC is sending packets to the DSPs with correct IP and MAC addresses. If so, then check if there are packets coming from the DSPs.

Please let us know the results of the above checks. We can look more into it if there are still problems.

    Thanks,

    Hongmei

  • Hi Tushar,

Which sv01.out are you loading from TFTP? Is it demos\demoroot\customBuild\tftp\sv01.out or something else?

From your tftp log, I am seeing file size of 21827161 bytes. However, we should load demos\demoroot\customBuild\tftp\sv01.out, whose size should be 20,135,434 bytes, or 19,644 kb as you mentioned above.

Also would like to clarify the use of pre-built and rebuilt sv01. In MCSDK Video 2.0 release package, pre-built sv01 is included under demos\demoroot\Reference\sample_build directory. In order to bring up a video demo on a particular demo PC, we need to patch the demo ID and MAC address of the demo PC into sv01. This is done by modifying config.txt and then running "genDemo.bat config.txt" from demos\demoroot. Running this batch file will generate customized sv01.out at demos\demoroot\customBuild\tftp, which is then loaded through TFTP for showing the demo on the demo PC.

If a user re-compiles sv01, an updated sv01.out will show up at dsp\mkrel\sv01 directory. To use this recompiled sv01.out for video demo, it needs to be copied to demos\demoroot\Reference\sample_build directory. Then, rerun "genDemo.bat config.txt" to get an updated sv01.out at demos\demoroot\customBuild\tftp directory. After that, still load demos\demoroot\customBuild\tftp\sv01.out for the demo.

A few more things we can check if you have CCS:

    1) Stop "sendPkts.bat " and "startMplayers.bat", and then connect to Core 0

    2) Load Symbols on Core 0: use demos\demoroot\customBuild\tftp\sv01.out

    3) Check if dsiuNwLocContext.numL4PktsSent increments or not (this can be done by running Core 0 for several seconds and then stop to check the value)

    4) If the above counter is incrementing, then sv01.out is correctly loaded and DSP is sending out RTCP packets. If so, GMAC Tx stats (i.e., value of register 0x2090C34) should increment also.

    5) If both 3) and 4) are good, Wireshark should be able to capture the RTCP packets from DSP if  PC and EVM are correctly connected (e.g., through a Ethernet cable).

    Thanks,

    Hongmei

  • Hi Hongmei,

    Thanx alot..

I am able to run this video demo now, Actually i was using wrong .out file.

    Thanks

I didn't find it for several days.

    thx first.

  • Wang, we cannot upload .exe here, which kind of problem are you facing?

  • Hi Lei, FYI, I tested SV01 Multicore transcoder demos (http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/MCSDK_VIDEO_2.1_PKT_Demo_Guide) using MPUI.2011-06-09.Full-Package.exe (as well as MPUI.2008-02-10.Full-Package.exe) in a Windows 7 machine and they went ok.  let me know if you face any issue with PKT demos.

    thank you,

  • hi, Paula

    I'd finish the sv01.out.

but I have met a problem for a week. It lists in http://e2e.ti.com/support/dsp/c6000_multi-core_dsps/f/639/p/251383/879803.aspx#879803

the TFTP cannot transport data or receive data, can you help me solve it.

    thank you

    lei.

  • hi, Paula.

I have complete the demo of sv04.out. now, I want to add my codec(AVS) into in project. I have reference this web(http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/MCSDK_VIDEO_2.1_CODEC_TEST_FW_User_Guide), but I don't know how to build a lib. is it create a new project alone select "library not execute"? if so,  whether I should create a project to compile the source code which have complete the codec function in Visual Studio 2010.

another problem is post in the "http://e2e.ti.com/support/dsp/c6000_multi-core_dsps/f/639/t/253096.aspx"

    can you help me?

    thank you!
