RVDS scan and detect AM1808 processor

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM1808

Hi all,

I am pretty new to embedded systems, especially TI's range of processors. I have a query on the AM1808 processor - I tried to detect the device using ARM's RVConfig utility (RVDS4.1). The RVConfig utility detected an unknown device instead, and I found it strange as the AM1808 is based on the ARM926EJ-S architecture. I've tried to resolve it but it just won't work. The RV debugger couldn't connect to it either, yielding an error instead.

I've ever consulted ARM's technical support on this issue. Their reply is that the RVDS indeed has problems trying to communicate with the core as there is a propriety IP device in between. Only the DS-5 can alleviate this problem but the source code is developed in Windows CE.

Have any of you come across this situation before? What can be done to resolve this, other than Code Composer Studio? E.g. perhaps CCS could work until one stage, while the RVDS continues with another? Even a work-around or temporary solution is good enough.

Regards,

Fadil
