How you get the AEW driver working with the MT9P031?

I have the DM368 I enable the drivers AEW and I'm using the MT9P031 sensor, but somehow the colors are all over exposed, anything I'm missing? the drivers initialized

You observe the issue on enabling AEW?

Hi Prabhakar, this is how the image looks, overexposed, I think the AEW driver is not adjusting the colors,

Hi,

Adjusting the controls to a proper tunned value should solve it. Adjust the gain, exposure initially and see of

you get too see some color.

well it would work for that moment, but then if get's darker, it would be off again, the job of the AEW is to adjust the colors depending on the light. that's the problem I'm having.

Andre,

You can use the H3A output from the ISP H3A engine for your auto exposure algorithm. The algorithm needs to process the H3A data to calculate exposure and gain compensation which needs to be written to the sensor and IPIPE at regular intervals. The intervals could be at best at frame level or at multiple frame level - this would depend upon the quality and usecase you are designing for.

Rajat I read in a few places in the forum that the DM368 does not have H3A engine, but I could be wrong, can you point me to the tutorial of how to accomplish this,

Hi Andre,

DM368 does not support the Hardware 3A (H3A) statistics collection module.

Hi Andre,

Set the control's manually, you can set the exposure to auto and try.

There is control to set auto exposure too 'V4L2_CID_EXPOSURE_AUTO'.

Praabhakar, that's how is set by default on the MT9P031.c

           mt9t031->exposure =
               (shutter_max / 2 + (mt9t031->height +
               mt9t031->y_skip_top + vblank - 1) *
               (qctrl->maximum - qctrl->minimum)) /

           mt9t031->autoexposure = 1;
       } else
           mt9t031->autoexposure = 0;
       break;

but the image still looks like that, and even if I adjust it, and if there is more light in the room everything goes very white, it never auto adjust.

please someone throw me a bone here, I don't know what's missing to get the white balance and autoexposure working :(

Hi Andre,

Looks like both Auto Exposure an White Balance on DM368 needs to be set

by controls depending on some fixed algorithm, Setting it auto

'V4L2_CID_EXPOSURE_AUTO' might not help since it calculates same

exposure / shutter settings, whatever if the cmos is inside (low light) or outside(high light).

Hi Andre

I am curious to know whether you found a solution to this problem and if indeed it was an exposure problem.

I am using the same sensor with Ridge Run auto exposure algos and whilst the auto exposure seems to run it does not solve my problem.
