mcbsp used as UART

huaiping ming

TI document spra633c says the McBSP can be used in either the serial port mode or the general-prupose input/output mode. i want to know if McBSP can work in two of this mode at same time.

Please explain your question. Both modes use the DR and DX pins.

i want to send messages from PC to DSK6416 through UART. and at same time i need to transport audio signal through McBSP. is this possible?

Yes. There are three McBSP ports on the C6416T. You can use them independently, so one can have its DR/DX pins connected logically to the PC and another can have its DR/DX pins connected logically to an audio device.

Please see the Application Note TMS320C620x/C642x McBSP: UART for a description of components needed to create this Hardware UART adapter interface to a DB9 connector.
