TMS320C6455 creating bidirectional audio interface with McBSP, also runtime sync monitoring and resync

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320C6455

Hello:  I am forwarding this inquiry from my customer.

>>>>   We are starting a TMS320C6455 project in CCS v4, running DSP/BIOS v5.41.10.36. Need to add support for a bidirectional audio interface using a 32 element multichannel McBSP.  A pre-existing implementation for runtime sync monitoring and automatic resync also needs to be translated and added.  We are looking for insight on the DSP/BIOS environment and how to best accomplish the above using DMA and any other advantages available with the processor and DSP/BIOS.   >>>>

Customer desires to speak to a TIer to get oriented on how to use the DSP/BIOS, or failing that, be pointed to the best info on this subject.  EAU is in the hundreds/year.

  • George,

If they are just starting a project, it would be smart to start with CCSv5 and SYS/BIOS. In any case, the BIOS documentation will explain what drivers are available and provide examples if you need to customize some of it.

The easiest approach will be to contact one of the TI Elite Design Houses for a consultation on this new design.

The next approach, if they are more interested in doing all the engineering design themselves, is to look at some of the training material on the Wiki. Do a search on "C6000 training" (no quotes) and look for a class that covers the C6455. I think it was called IW6000 or IW6455, so you could try those search terms, too.

Not sure how much this helps, but we can at least keep the conversation going.
