To start with, I verified that the FFTC_Simple_testProject from pdk_C6670_1_0_0_16 does run successfully, all the way to completion on the 6670 EVM I have here.

Could you please ensure that your switch settings on the 6670 EVM are set for "No boot" mode? Switch settings are at http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/TMDXEVM6670L_EVM_Hardware_Setup#Boot_Mode_Dip_Switch_Settings.
If the problem still persists, set breakpoints to determine what exact line number in your code the program is freezing at runtime, to help narrow in on the issue.

I am using the "no boot" configuration.
I wrote it before, but it got somehow "hidden" between logs. The program is freezing at the test_mono_singlecore.c function, line 280:

I have also found something really interesting, I can get the program to work if I have just built the project before. This means, every time I build the project, the program runs ONLY ONE TIME, then I have to build again -even if I don't change anything-

If I understand correctly, you observe that if you use the .out file, right after building, it runs fine...but when you try the exact same .out file again, the program freezes.Three things I can think of trying here:
1. Check the .out file on your system to see if it is somehow getting corrupted after the first run. To confirm you can check the "modify date/time" of the .out file just after building and then again after the first run to see if the date/time stays the same or changes after the first run.
2. Next thing to check is if the behavior you observe is related to what state the EVM is left in after the first run. To rule this out, try the following: Build the project --> Load the .out file and run the program --> Terminate debug session in CCS and plug-out the power adapter on the EVM --> Plug-in power adapter on the EVM and start a new debug session --> Load the .out file and run the program
3. Next, could you also try the same process (as step 2) but with the following attached .out file on your system. Please change the extension from .doc to .out. 5852.FFTC_Simple_testProject_out.doc

Your observations are as expected. The program expects a system reset every time the application is reloaded / rerun. This system reset can be done either manually (like you did by resetting the board) or through CCS. To do it through CCS, you can follow the procedure outlined below:
1. In Debug view, select Core 0. Now go to Run --> Reset --> System Reset
2. Select the rest of the cores and go to Run --> Reset --> CPU Reset
3. Reload your program and run

Why does the program expect a system reset? Is it that the Multicore Navigator, the FFTW or the various interrupt controllers are left in an undefined/unrecoverable state? Is it possible to clean down the hardware using the various drivers or CSL such that the program can be rerun without a system reset.
