DM8148 with SO-DIMM

I'm designing the device based on DM8148 and I'd like to use SO-DIMM DDR3.

I am aware that DIMM has 64-bit interface, while the DM8148 has only 32 bit. The idea is to take a DIMM that has 8 chips (8 bit width each) and use only 4 of them (32 bit in total). I am conscious that unused chips will consume the power, but the main question: will it work or not?

I checked the DIMM design at jedec.org and I didn't find any limitations why it is impossible to do that.

So, can I use DIMM in that way? If not, please explain what limits me.

Thanks.
