Can 8168 accept 3-CH 1080P video?

Yes, in case video is captured non multiplexed mode. But 8168 is capable of capturing video in multiplexed mode using TVP5158. But this is limited to D1 resolution only.

Maximum pixel clock supported by dm8168 is 165MHz, 8-bit capture requires dual clock rate. So 8168 can capture upto 1080P30 in 8-bit mode.

24bit, or 16bit should be able to capture 1080P60. In multiplexed mode, how many 1080P60 streams can be supported by VIP0 and VIP1?

8168 has 3-ch 1080P60 endcode capability, I want to capture three 1080P60 video streams, what's the possobile/optimal solution?

In Any case 3 1080P60 cant be capture using VIP.

8168 is video DSP processor, but I found there is almost no any video interface design/configuration guide in TI website. TI should write something about this.

Its not only about encode. Its about decode also. Third stream can be encoded HD stream which may need decoding.

Yes, encoded data will be through Ethernet.

I dont think software decode will be possible for 1080P60 decoder using either DSP or A8.

I don't understand. For 8168, encoding three 1080P60 video, then sending stream through Ethernet should be one of most typical applications. This is my customer requirement, if two 8168 are used, the cost will be double.

I misunderstood your question. I thought you want to capture 3 1080P60 over VIP port. You can capture 2 1080P60 using VIP port. Third stream should be coming over Ethernet and it should be in encoded format.

I did want to capture three raw 1080P60 video data, then encoded by three HDVICP2 units, then send out three 1080P60 H.264 streams over Ethernet. This is  customer video encoder requirement, customer system has three 1080P60 HD cameras. You said VIP can capture up to two raw 1080P60 video, how can i capture the third 1080P60 raw video data? From the 8168 hardware interface, i only see PCI-e is possible.

I think PCIe should do your job. But how will you capture data from outside world. PCIe can transfer data but not capture.

I only try to find capture IC with PCI-E interface.

By the way, Considering this chip is very new,  I think 8168 interface design is lame. I hope some changes in next generation

1. change VIP ports to multiple HDMI direct inputs. Hardware will be very clean and scaleable with HDMI MUX.

2. change GMII to SGMII, GMII almost have never been used in past 5 years, it's weired  8168 released in 2011 using such old Ethernet PHY bus.
