C6678 cache analysis in CCS 5

Hello all,

Before I proceed, let it be known that I am a complete novice when it comes to CCS 5 and TI products in general.

We have recently acquired a C6678 DSP, and we wish to run several benchmarks and tests on it. Specifically, we wish to analyze the cache, and ultimately we want to modify the cache. When it comes to the analysis part, we found information about a plugin called CacheTune; however, the information was about an earlier version of CCS, CCS 3, and we have not found a way to install it in CCS 5. Is there a way to install CacheTune in CCS 5? And if not, is there some similar tool that we can use?

We are aware of the Cache view under the Debug directory, but we need more information than that displayed in the Cache view.

Here is some additional information:

CacheTune manual: http://www.ti.com/lit/an/spraa01/spraa01.pdf

Board: TMS320C6678L

Sys BIOS 6.31.04.27

XDCtools 3.20.08.88

I will provide additional information if needed.

Thank you very much in advance.

  • Eduardo,

Welcome to the TI E2E forum. I hope you will find many good answers here and in the TI.com documents and in the TI Wiki Pages. Be sure to search those for helpful information and to browse for the questions others may have asked on similar topics.

Your question sounds like it is asking about software tools, but this C66x Multi-core Forum is the device/hardware forum. However, before I put in a move-request for your thread to go to the Code Composer Forum, I want to ask what you mean by "analyze the cache" and what information you are looking for?

I do know that CacheTune is not available. It was a nice tool, but it did not port to CCSv4 and CCSv5.

    Regards,
    RandyP
