TI chip does support BT.1120 embedded TRS timing ?

Hi

I have a question using GV7601 HD-SDI receiver .

I want to using the embedded TRS timing with TI chip,

TI chip does support BT.1120 embedded TRS timing (which TFS words are duplicated in 8/10-bit bus width,
       like 3FF 3FF 000 000 000 000 XYZ XYZ) ?

  • BT1120 timings are supported on many TI chips over 8 bit interface.

    Thanks,

    Brijesh Jadav

  • Thank your for your answer ,  Brijesh.

    I'm using DVRRDK_02.80.00.10

when i using 8BIT BT.1120 embedded TRS timing in(for HD-SDI) , any input setting code modify needs or auto detect BT.656/BT.1120 ?

if it is(modify needs) , how to setting  the RDK source code?

    Thanks.

  • Hi,

I think i misunderstood the question, BT1120 is not supported over 8bit interface, it can be supported over 16bit interface. BT656 is supported over 8 bit interface.

    Thanks,

  • Hi ,

    Thanks for your replay Brijesh.

    I planned 4channel HD-SDI DVR product using DM8168.

    if i use GV7601 HD-SDI receiver support HD 8bit interface, TI only support 8bit BT.656 format ? (not support 8bit BT1120 format)

    How can i receive 8bit 4channel HD-SDI signal?

blow is answer of GV7601 FA  , for my question of TI DM8168 HD-SDI support .

    - He can use 8-bit bus width, using GV7601 DOUT[19:12], leaving DOUT[11:10] open and set 20BIT/10BITb pin low.
        - Please note, four GV7601 output streams are totally independent in timing. He must provide four sets of timings (either embedded TRS or external H/V/F) to TI chip.
If using the embedded TRS timing with TI chip, double make sure the TI chip does support BT.1120 embedded TRS timing (which TFS words are duplicated in 8/10-bit bus width,
           like 3FF 3FF 000 000 000 000 XYZ XYZ)
        - The disavantages of 8-bit bus are,
           1) The parrallel bus frequency is double, pay more attention in layout.
           2) 8 bit per component has less color depth than 10-bit component.

  • Hi,

Same question, is there any update information? Thanks.

    Mike

  • Hi kisung,

The answer is TI8168 does not support 8bit bt1120 style of capture, you will have to use either 8bit bt656 embedded sync format or 8bit discrete sync format. This can be supported, Also please note that you will have to check the pinmux settings to make sure pins are configured for discrete sync input.

If i remember correctly, discrete sync capture is possible only on VIP0, but not vIP1, so you could operated in discrete sync capture mode for the 2 channels and embedded sync capture format for the other two channels.

  • Sorry brijesh,

That last one is not true.

davinci 8168 does support discrete sync capture at VIP1.

We already have a card doint it.

    Regards

  • oh ok, i think what is not possible is 24bit mode on VIP1. Except this, both VIP0 and VIP1 are identical.

    Regards,

    Brijesh
