EtherCAT and AM3359 Connectivity

We have AM3359 ICE board

Host - win7,64 bit, downloaded TwinCat with PLC, installed the IND_SDK(am335x_sysbios_ind_sdk_1.0.0.3)

Connected the Ethernet cable to J2.

Coped TiEtherCatLib.xml file from c:\ti\am335x_sysbios_ind_sdk_1.0.0.3\sdk\examples\ethercat\esi to C:\TwinCAT\Io\EtherCAT location.

Started the twincat system manager(C:\TwinCAT\Io\TCatSysManager.exe)

Options > Show Real Time Ethernet Compatible Devices

Ethernet port appeared in the "InCompatible Devices"

more over seen the Err LED(D7) glows in the board.

Please help us to proceed further.

Hi,

Try force installing TwinCAT RT ethernet driver by selecting the adapter and click install - I have done this broadcom and realtek adapters on Windows XP. Once installation is complete - scan devices again. This might work -but RT performance is not guaranteed in this case. For best performance/results - use recommended NIC by Beckhoff - which is mentioned in the wiki

thanks. Could you please let me the location to download the ethercat drivers for RealTek PCIe FE chip?

Hi,

Sorry - no idea. It is bundled with TwinCAT in windows XP AFAIK. Clicking install after selecting the NIC launched the driver install dialog in this case.

For TwinCAT related questions - I recommend asking beckhoff support.
