DM8148 PG2.1 EVM Unable to mount rootfs by nfs mode

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCF8575, PMP

dear experts:

         we used the  DM8148x/AM387X  EVM  and ti-ezsdk_dm814x-evm_5_02_02_60. The linux host is ubuntu11.10  When used the nfs mode ,the evm system didn't mount the nfs share rootfs correctly. The u-boot environments and system start log as below:

  • Hi Jeffery,

    1. Can try pressing CTRL + C after that warning?

    2. If step one is not working can you try these boot args? Reason to check with this bootargs is ip assigned twice in you case and rootdelay is not added.

    setenv bootargs 'console=ttyO0,115200n8 root=/dev/nfs nfsroot=192.168.18.18:/home/share/nfs/dm814x/rootfs_evm,nolock rw mem=128M earlyprintk rootdelay=4'
    setenv addip 'setenv bootargs ${bootargs} ip=${ipaddr}:${nfsserver}:${gatewayip}:${netmask}:${hostname}:eth0:off'
    setenv bootcmd 'run addip;tftp 81000000 uImage;bootm'
    setenv serverip <tftp server ip>

    Instead of

       Image Name:   Linux-2.6.34

  • Hi Jeffery,

    I am looking for more details, mean while can you try adding MAC ID

    TI8168_EVM# setenv ethaddr <unique-MAC-address> <-- Set only if not present already, format xx:yy:zz:aa:bb:cc

    http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/TI81XX_PSP_User_Guide#Boot_over_Network_.28Ethernet.29

  • Hi Jeffery,

    Can you enable INOTIFY option in kernel (through menuconfig)?

    # CONFIG_FSNOTIFY is not set
    # CONFIG_DNOTIFY is not set
    # CONFIG_INOTIFY_USER is not set

    change to

    CONFIG_FSNOTIFY=y
    CONFIG_DNOTIFY=y
    CONFIG_INOTIFY_USER=y

    Regards

  • I've also seen this line appear after upgading the kernel to 2.6.37

    udevd (71): /proc/71/oom_adj is deprecated, please use /proc/71/oom_score_adj instead.

    With 2.6.37, it's just a warning. I've had no problems. Anil has helped you sort out the more serious notify problem. The system should still boot. What happens after this warning?

    If you really want to remove the warning, you'll have update udev on your file system. Never done it myself. Seems more effort that it's worth.

  • Hi Norman:

    Yes.it's just a warning,but the system didn't mount the nfs share and halted after the warning line,  i didn't know why?

    this morning,I just used the new vision busy-box to update a new file system,then everything is well .

    thank you for your reply,

    especially pay my respect to Anil.
