Network transfert speed

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320VC5502

Hi,

Just upfront : I'm new to the forum, en even though I've done quite some computing and electronics etc, I'm new to DSP, new to TI-DSP.

I would like to start experimenting with a number of TMS320VC5502 eval boards to be put in an ethernet network (starting with 3 in testing, probably to 10).

Before actually get out and buy the kits, I would very much appreciate if someone could give me an safe estimate of how much data I would be able to broadcast (UDP-style packets) reliably over a 100Mbps network ? As my idea stands now, I would make a sort of "turn-based" broadcast protocol where each device only sends when granted anyway.

Would it be realistic to assume 20Mbps can effectively be handled on both the NIC, and would the board be fast enough to digest a steady 20Mbps stream ?

Regards,

Ludo
