Can PMIC (TPS65217) be connected to I2C1 as well ?

Reading the schematic checklist for Am335x I found the following statement:

"ensure I2C0 is used for communication to PMIC"

As I only have I2C1 in my custom design I would like to know if it can be used or not.

Is there any "side effect" on adopting I2C1 (uboot changes, for instance) ?
