TMS320C6424ZDU

Hello,

We have 2 batches of TMS320C6424ZDU DSP , one from January'12 date code and second is from June'11. The marking on the chip is $NC-21ADSFW and $NC-06A8ZSW.

As much as I know there was an silicon errata at August 2011. Few questions regarding this errata:

1. Can we assume that the batch from June'11 produced before the errata was published, and therefore doesn't include the changes?

2. Is there any changes included in the errata that may affect the board design (HW or FW)? Is it fully backward compatible? Should any changes be done in the board design to fit the chip after the errata?

3. Since the phenomenon isn't consistent and it might be that our designer left one of the pins not connected, can you advise if there pins that might  be affected by the errata and cause issues?

3. Is there any other changes except the silicon errata from August 2011 were done on this DSP?

Thanks a lot,

Marina.

  • Marina,

The errata document describes how to read the device markings and how to determine the silicon revision of your devices. From what you have stated above, all of your devices are the same silicon revision 1.3. Do you understand how this was determined from the markings and the errata document Section 1.2 "Revision Identification"?

Please review all of the relevant portions of the errata document for your silicon revision to find any items that will affect your particular use of the device in your application or on your board. The portions regarding earlier revisions of the silicon can be ignored.

    Regards,
    RandyP
