About AM335x power

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65910

1、In my application, some components of the AM335x won't be uesd, such as USB、ADC.Then, can I leave the power pins of these components floating
 ?

2、VDD_CORE and VDD_MPU can be fed by 1.1V.So can them share the same power source?

3、In my application,I will use TPS65910. When the power launch, what are the output voltages of it? And it depends on what factors?

  • Hi Wang,

    1. It's not a good idea to leave power supply pins floating. The AM335X has a complex power management, which can be used to control both dynamic and static power consumption of the device modules.

    2. The TPS65910 output voltages at start-up depend on the boot mode settings. Please check the chapter "SWITCH-ON/-OFF SEQUENCES AND TIMING" in the device datasheet.

  • I know the power management, but it seem be too complex for my application,so I will still leave them floating.

    Thank you all the same.

  • There isn't information on this in the AM335X datasheet, but I can refer you to what is recommended for the AM387X:
    "4.4 Handling Unused Pins:
When device signal pins are unused in the system, they can be left unconnected unless otherwise noted in the Terminal Functions tables (see Section 3.2). For unused input pins, the internal pull resistor should be enabled, or an external pull resistor should be used, to prevent floating inputs. All supply pins must always be connected to the correct voltage, even when their associated signal pins are unused."

It should be also valid for AM335X.
