Newbie question, apologies if I didn't get things right yet.

There's a lot of discussion here about whether face detection can be made to work with the latest version on the Leopard 365 board. Leopard web site says 'yes' but TI seems to be saying 'no'.

Has anyone got face detection working on the latest Leopard 365 (i.e the one I'd get if I bought it today)?

If it does work, is it straightforward to get it working or are there a lot of hoops to jump through?

I'm interested i getting the board if there's a reasonable chance of being able to do face detection with it. Conversely, is there a better (embedded) platform for this task?

Hi,

Face detection works only on DM36x processors which supports that feature in HW.
They should have letter "F" in the processor name.
I have several Leopard boards :
DM368ZCEF (has HW FD Engine)
DM365BZCE (no FD )
DM365ZCE30F (has HW FD Engine)

So it depends which processor is on the specific board.

I suggest you to ask Leopardimaging to send you the Leopardboard with a processor (DM365 or DM368) that supports FD.

That's great information - I didn't see that elsewhere and didn't know about the hardware support factor.

I'll be working on this over the next week or so, and I'll no doubt be asking more questions. Conversely as I get answers I'll share them.

The plan was to go with the 365 - is the 368 a better bet for FD?

A newbie forum question: should I be adding tags? What's usual here?

I think DM365 and DM368 are prety much the same regarding FD.
The only difference is DM368 runs on higher frequency - ARM frequency is 432MHz, (http://www.ti.com/product/tms320dm368 under Buy)
DM365 has several models : 216, 270 or 300 MHz. (http://www.ti.com/product/tms320dm365 under Buy )

Just to keep this alive, I'm currently waiting on Avnet to give me purchasable part numbers for my Leopard camera and face detection SDK. It's not clear what processor variation comes as standard, and how you make it clear you want the SDK to be 'F' based.

Ready to roll once we get the hardware - thanks again for your help.
