After I run i2cdetect, I get these error message.

Are you using a custom board ? Could be HW issue.
Do i2ctools work on original Appro HW ?
Does default sensor MT9P031 work on any board ?

Yes

I use i2ctools on MT9P031 HW still get the same error message.

Even the board can get the image with the TI standard IPNC-MT5 Ver2.6.

I can use i2ctools binaries from :
http://arago-project.org/files/releases/davinci-psp_3.x.0.0-r35/images/dm365-evm/    (arago-demo-image-dm365-evm.tar.gz   - i2ctools binaries are in /usr/sbin/)

Can you try the following i2c addresses : 0x10, 0x20, 0x40  and  0x18, 0x30, 0x60   (i remember that somewhere in IPNC code it is shifted by 1 bit)

That's what i'm getting on my original Appro IPNC MT-5 :

I can succesfully read from address 0x48 where the sensor is,
and i'm getting read error when trying to read from 0x49 (or other), where there is no sensor.
I don't see any "i2c_davinci i2c_davinci.1: controller timed out", even if i read from any other addresses (only "Error: read failed").
