Cannot access internal RAM on AM3359 starting at address 0x402F0400

Hello,

I am doing RAM testing on the new board we just got with AM3359 chip on it. I can access OCMC RAM starting at 0x40300000 and load/execute code there, but I cannot read from and write to the internal RAM @ 0x402F0400 (question marks shown in the CCS). I am able to run the same code on the AM335x EVM (no OS loaded) with CCS 5.2. Is there anything I need to configure in order to see the internal RAM?

I am experiencing the same behavior but with OpenOCD. I can not access memory from 0x402F0400 to 0x402FFFFF (Internal SRAM) but I can access 0x40300000 to 0x4030FFFF (OCMC SRAM). I have tested both the AM335x General Purpose Evaluation Board as well as a Beaglebone with the same results. Is there a solution to this?

As you see this working with CCS I assume your current environment (there is no info here) doesn't setup the MMU for 0x402 page.

Hi Frank,

I am doing my testing at the bootloader level, before the MMU is enabled. Are there any registers which limit what memory is accessible even when the MMU is disabled?

Hi Mark,

In our case, it turned out that the chip was bad. The devtype filed in the control_status register shows 000 instead of 011. After we unsoldered, re-balled then placed the IC from an EVM unit, the SRAM was fine.
