Command line license-less program download

Hi all,

we have a program running for 3 cores of the TCI6616. The code lies

partially in DDR and thus we use a GEL initialization file. We would like

to do Ethernet boot, but this is problematic as described in this forum

post:

Unitl a solution is found for that, is there a method to download the code and GEL

file from a computer without a CCS license and preferably in command line.

Thank you,

e

  • I mean download code via JTAG.

  • Eri,

TCI66xx devices are not supported on the forum.  They are supported through your local Field Application Engineering team.  Please work with them, if you're not sure who your local Field Application Engineer is, please work with your local sales representative or sponsor to find out who they are.

You can buy a low-cost XDS100 emulator and use that on your own board with CCS without having to pay for a license. You can use the on-board emulator of an EVM with CCS without having to pay for a license.

GEL is an interpreted language, and CCS is the platform that interprets GEL for running commands across JTAG to perform those operations. I am not familiar with any command-line tool that handles GEL.

Some of the XDS560 vendors may have utilities that include a command-line download tool. These would most likely take a .out file or .bin file and simple place the contents as if from a bootloading process.
