Where are the libraries and example code ?

Now I've gotten "Hello World" to run I want to start coding, so where will I find the support libraries and example code for the X8148X3874? Am I the only one to go round and round in circles through endless wikis and PDFs without actually finding anything useful ?

whether I need an operating system for support rather depends on what libraries are available and I can't decide till I've seen them! My project is multichannel video acquisition, recording and video overlay of synchronous telemetry

Do you have a DM814x/DM816x board? If yes - you could try EZSDK (yes, it is Linux based); It contains many libraries with their sources, many demos (even prebuilt ones), with documentation how to run them, etc.

Yes, I have the TMDXEVM8148. So was it a waste of money buying Code Composer ? Texas supports its free development tool better than its paid-for one ?

Hi Simon,

The SD card included in the TMDXEVM8148 box, has the TI CCS installer as well.

yes I know that. How interoperable are they ? We were asked to pay some $500 for CCS5 for Windows.

I've unpacked ti-ezsdk_dm814x-evm_5_04_00_11_demo_binaries.tar.gz which gives me a lot of folders with patches and obscure command names when what I want is "this is how to toggle the board LED", "here's how to capture a frame from a video input" and other useful stuff like that! I want to record video not learn Linux...

OK so I've installed the entire EZSDK. So now I have folders within folders within folders of stuff and somewhere in there may be the information I require, but it's up to me to search it out ? And it might be called spru403r.pdf ?? The term that springs to mind is "Mockumentation" :o)

"I am so stupid" - yes, this was my first reaction, but then when the "help" I was offered referred me on to more boneheaded or irrelevant PDFs I began to realise I wasn't! One particular document claimed to be a guide to debugging but was in fact hints on how to write code to be more easily degugged with printf statements etc, and only of any use to complete novices :( What's really frustrating is that I expect useful information is there somewhere embedded in the matrix of irrelevance but I have no idea how to find it, and it would appear Texas staffers have got sulky at criticism (or perhaps are equally lost?). I expect to pack up and return the EVM and look for some better supported hardware :(
