connecting two 6670 evms with ti breakout board

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320C6670

Hi,

I am trying to connect two 6670 evm with ti breakout board CI2EVMBOC with SD 510 USB plus Emulator. When i am trying to connect the target i am getting error. Can i able connect the two evms with breakout board using SD 510 USB emulator? Target Configuration,  i am selecting SD510 usb emulator  and taking two tms 320c6670 devices. Is there any thing wrong in the configuration set up?

Thank you,

  • Hi Chandrut,

Let me add some details on the JTAG chain for the C6670 EVM.  The C6670 supports three separate JTAG connections and has logic to automatically enable the proper interface.  The order of selection is detailed below.

    1) If an emulator is plugged into the 60pin emulation connector on the C6670 EVM that interface will become active and will be connected to the C6670 on the EVM.  You will not be able to connect to the C6670 using the on-board XDS100 or a JTAG connection from the AMC connector.

    2) If nothing is plugged into the 60pin emulation connector on the EVM and a powered USB cable is connected to XDS100 USB connector then the XDS100 logic will be connected to the C6670.  Note that this will only connect to the C6670 on the EVM card.

    3) If nothing is plugged into the 60pin emulation connector on the EVM and nothing is connected to XDS100 USB connector then the JTAG interface from the AMC connector is connected to the C6670 on the EVM card.

J7 on the CI2EVMBOC is a 60pin emulation connector which is connected to both of the AMC JTAG ports for the two EVMs.  J7 may be used if you have two EVMs connected to the CI2EVMBOC and nothing connected to the XDS100 USB connectors or the 60pin emulation connectors on the EVMs.  In this configuration you will have the C6670 from the first EVM and the C6670 from the second EVM in the same JTAG chain.  You cannot use either of the XDS100 connections to connect to both processors in a chain.  You must have an external emulation pod to achieve that.

  • Hi Bill, Thanks for the reply. Yes, i have gone through the schematics of 6670 EVM. On the EVM JTAG we cannot able to connect XDS510 USB plus emulator to access the DSP because XDS510 USB plus is 3.3v logic, correct me if i am wrong. My doubt is whether i can connect SD XDS510 USB plus emulator on the CI2EVMBOC breakout borad to access the daisy chained dsp's(two evm's) connected to the breakout board (no jtag, no usb is connected on the evm's)?. If it is possible to access two DSP's connected through breakout borad using SD XDS510 USB plus emulator, what target configuration(any port number configurations) i have to make. I am trying to connect by selecting SD XDS510USB plus as the connection type in the target configuration and selecting two tms320c6670's as devices and trying to connect both evms through breakout borad(i didnt connect jatg on the evms and usb cable, i connected SD XDS510 USB plus jtag to breakout board) . When i am trying this i am getting error as check power connection to jtag, check port number etc. Please suggest any corrections.

    Thanks and Regards

  • Hi Bill,

Any updation. Still i am unable to access the dsp's, need your help

    with regards,
