If the TMS320C6748 can support D1 video sensor

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320C6748

I want to design a  tracking system  use the TMS320C6748 ,  I want to ask if the tms320c6748  can support D1 video sensor  to do the  video capture?  We need is a video input (composite) .  This  is  about    720 * 576 PAL video  ,We gain 720*576 frame by frame .

  • You have looked at the datasheet and see that the C6748 includes Video Ports for capture and for display. To determine if it will be compatible with the sensor you have chosen, please review the Video Port section(s) of the datasheet and the VPIF section of the Technical Reference Manual.

The easiest way to progress is to find an example board that has a video sensor available and use that same design. If you wish to use a different video sensor, then you will have the engineering task of determining this compatibility as you understand the sensor's capabilities & interface and the available C6748 documentation.

  • D1 camera sensor is supported with C6748 device. If you are using the EVM  for your development, the composite input port is on the UI card and there are video loop back examples that exist in the BSL package provided by Logic PD as well as the BIOS PSP driver that we provide.

If you are still undecided on the development platform, you could consider the low cost development kit called C6748 LCDK which has the composite input on the base board. There is a out of box face detection demo on that development platform that demonstrates this functionality. Refer to the following link to view the videoof the demo in action with the D1 camera sensor
