Are you refering to the C6748 Bootloader App Note. From the other post, I realize, you are working on C6748 LCDK, which may not have all the boot modes supported by the full fledged EVM. For sample for booting LCDK refer to this wiki article:

I have read the bootloader app and it does not quite tell me what I wanted to know.  By the way we will be using the legacy NOR boot mode. 

We are swtiching from a C6713 to the C6748. For the C6713 there was a specific boot sequence: at power up reset interrupt vector (c_int00) executes which sets the initial stack, auto_init function called to set up environment, then main called.

All the people who initially setup this code are no longer available. So my question is whether there is an app that talks about the boot sequence from the software level like I described above for the C6748?

Booting C6748 is considerably different from C6713 because the C6748 application images need to be converted to an AIS format images.  The software flow has been described in the OMAP-L138 Boot Examples,  OMAP-L138 Boot Process,  Serial Flashing Utility that are linked from here:
