AM335x DDR3 Chip Size

I've seen this question asked in the past without any final resolution, so I wanted to get some clarification.

Does the AM335x support DDR3 chips larger than 2Gb? For ease of routing and to save board space we would like to use a 16-bit, 4Gb part in our design.

People seemed to reference a note in the datasheet or TRM but I can't seem to find those. I'm wondering if perhaps that limitation no longer applies. Perhaps 2Gb was the largest size tested with DDR2, as that was the largest size in the sweet spot of DDR2.

I can't see why this wouldn't work. The 4Gb chips from Micron support two DQS signals and the 16-bits of data and more than enough address bits. Given that the AM335x views the DDR space as one large memory space with a single CS I don't see why this wouldn't work.

Thanks for your time and hopefully we can get this cleared up.
