DM8148 EVM PCI Express Endpoint Boot From x86 Root Complex

Hello,

I am trying to get a DM8148 to boot over PCIe from an x86 machine (running Ubuntu with kernel version 2.6.32-42). I am following the instructions found at http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/DM81xx_AM38xx_PCI_Express_Endpoint_Boot_Driver_User_Guide. I have compiled everything according to the specifications in the aforementioned instructions and am getting print outs on the x86 machine that say "TI81XX EP Boot completed" but I see no activity on the serial port of the EVM.

Has anyone attempted this particular setup before? Any advice or ideas on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

\Greg Gluszek

  • For anyone who comes across this post and was looking for an answer, in the end we did get this working. Our particular problem was in the way we had been building u-boot (both the needed u-boot.bin and MLO files). So booting on the DM8148 EVM over PCIe definitely is possible.
