Connect AM3358 2nd Ethernet MII to another MAC

Hi,

i would like to know if we can connect the AM335x Ethernet MII directly to another processor MII, without using PHYs. I attach you an image of the idea. If it is possible, should we do some modifications in the Ethernet driver sources?

I don't see how this would be possible given the constraints of the MII interface. MII was designed specifically for a PHY+MAC interface so anything connected to our MAC must appear to be, and operate like, a PHY.

We plan to interface AM3352 and a Gigabit Ethernet Swithc ( Marvell 88E6176) uisng RGMII interface. Is ithis connection possible?

I'm not familiar with this specific switch, and the documentation for this device does not appear to be readily available so you would need to verify that it presents a RGMII PHY-type interface for our MAC connection. As I mentioned above, direct MAC-to-MAC connections are not a supported configuration.

I am sorry to bother you with the same question,
I have posted the same question in the other post also.
We would like to know what problems could arise in case of MAC to MAC connection,
our customer says they have no problem with there AM335x MAC to MAC connection
in their custom board.
This information is crucial for us to tell them to redesign their board.
