Desktop Linux SDK root permission

Hello,

I am using the alpha release of the Desktop Linux SDK. I have run the install_udev.sh script as root.

When I try to run the init_dspc8681_1000.sh script as user, pci_device_probe throws an error :

ERROR: PCI Probe failed error code 2
ERROR: pciedrv could not opened

I thought that the install_udev.sh script was supposed to set permissions such that the other scripts

could run as user.

Hi Sydney,

Looks like some problem with install_udev script execution.

What is the Ubuntu version you are using?

Can you send me the following files created on your machine?

/var/log/c6678_udev.log

Also one work around you can use is, to use the following commands once every reboot of the Desktop. ( Assuming make is already done)

cd demos/scripts
sudo sh ./driver_init.sh

Sam,

I fixed the problem by downloading the source for the pciaccess library and compiling the shared library as user.

Not sure why that worked though.

This may be because you upgraded the pciaccess library to newer version.

One of the earlier versions had a bug, which resulted in the pci probe error.

Ok that makes sense.

Could somebody on the SDK development team document the minimum required version for the pciaccess lib on the wiki?

I do not think it is stated at this time.

Thanks for your feedback.

The libpciaccess-dev version need is 0.12.902-1 or later.

We will update the documentation on this.
