Power Required to implement H.264 using DM368

We are doing a review on H.264. We are looking into the DM368. Could you help get an estimate of what the total power would be, DSP as well as peripheral device(s) such as required memory to run H.264? We played with the excel spreadsheet and got a number of 720mW to 768mW, but I don’t believe it includes the memory device require to run the encoder. Do you have any measured value from any test that TI completed?

Derek,

The power spread sheet will give you the total power consumption for the DM36x device, including its own 1.8V (DDR) power rail, but excluding the actual memory devices' power (i.e. Micron's power or Hynix' power).

The power XLS tool is a good resource for worst case/power supply design. In a real system, you expect to see lower power.

So what you are saying is that i would have to look at my architecture and add the power consumption for the external devices (DDR2) to the power number for the processor to get total power required?
