dynamic IVA table change for encoding

Hello,

I would like to verify that the dynamic routine for changing the IVA table is also valid for encoding dynamic change (in the release notes it is mentioned in context of changing the decoding IVA dynamically, without mentioning the encoding).

Yes dynamic IVA map change is valid for encode as well as decode although we have seen issues with MJPEG encoder when the encoder is switched dynamically from one IVA to another

Hi Badri,

What types of issues ? Should I expect similiar problems when using H.264, MPEG-2 , MPEG-4 in encoder IVA ?

We have seen the MJPEG encoder crash in the process call when IVA switch happens. We have not seen this issue with H264 encoder/H264 decoder. As we have not integrated MPEG2 and MPEG4 encoder in RDK we dont know if the codecs will have issue with switching

Hi Badri,

We are seeing issue with MPEG4 encoder integrated in VC-SDK. IVA Map switiching is working fine for H264 but for MPEG4 format, decoder is crashing.

I am observing the assert for this statement.

UTILS_assert(displayBufs->planeDesc[0].buf == pExpectedBuf);

Can you let me know what could be the issue?

Does VC RDK support run time IVA map change ? If you can recreate the issue with CCS connected I can take a look. From assert it appears task from which original decode process call was invoked and task in which decode process completed is different which should never happen.

Hi Badri,

VC-Rdk is based on DVRDK- GA3.0 code. Hence IVA dynamic switching is supported. We have added MPEG4 also as video encoding frmat in encLink.

IVA switching happens first time only successfully, but second time it gives assert in decLink_mpeg4 and SlaveCoreException.
