DM8168 Encode/Decode Performance

I am interested in getting more understanding about the performance and quality of the DM8168 Encode/Decode processors

From the spec, it should be possible of encode/decode 6 channels of HD-SDI 1080i/60 simultaneously

- so it would be possible to Input 4 x 1080i into the VIN ports, encode these channels using H264, and record these to disk/flash

- simultaneously, it should be possible to pull 2 channel of 1080i from the disk/flash, and output these from the VOUT ports

So, what would be the data rates sustainable on each of these encode/decode channels?

- and how much CPU & DSP would be left over for other tasks?

In my imaginary system, another configuration would be to input 2 Channels of 1080i, and output 4 channels

- what would be the best way to build a system which has this kind of flexibilty?

- using OpenMax? Link API? RDK?
