Is AM335X support repeat start pulse on I2C.

Hi Bharat,

Yes, the AM335X supports repeated start condition on I2C. Please check Datasheet section 5.61 (Table 5-64) and Technical Reference Manual section 21.3.6.1 (Figure 21-8).

Hi,

Thanks for response.

As i understand, 1)Tranfer data without stop bit 2) Again intiate data transfer.

Is above understanding true?

Is Linux PSP 04.04.00.01 support this?If not,how can i integrate to linux kernel. if yes, how to do that.

Hi Bharat,

Yes this is correct. Here is a link to the i2c.org page that describes this in detail: http://www.i2c-bus.org/repeated-start-condition/

As for Linux support, I'm not sure, I deal with hardware support only. However the repeated start is needed only in a multi-master I2C configuration. If the AM335X is the only bus master you needn't worry about this feature.

Bharat,

A small update. The AM335X EVM board has a CAT24C256W EEPROM connected on the I2C0 bus. This memory requires a repeated start condition for a random read. Here is a link to the I2C wiki page: http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/I2C_Tips#Repeated_Start. I'm pretty sure that this is supported, but you can check the I2C driver to be sure.
